Frequently Asked Questions

IPL treatment can help reduce the visible effects of red, flushed skin, rosacea, broken capillaries, pigmented lesions, sun damage discolouration, mild acne and uneven skin tone. It’s suitable for use on the face, neck, chest, arms.

IPL delivers pulses of light to break down the capillaries/redness. During the treatment blanching (whitening of the vessels) or coagulation (blood is hard and sticky) occurs which the body then absorbs.

For pigmentation / age spots / freckles the pigment absorbs the light which then causes the pigment to become darker in colour. This will become a little dry and flaky (looks like pepper has been sprinkled on the area). This will shed away itself in 7-10 days.

The treatment takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on the condition being treated. A course of 4-6 treatments are recommended 2-4 weeks apart.

The sensation feels like a strong flicker of an elastic band with some heat in the skin after the treatment.

A patch test is required for IPL and for most people they can see results from their first treatment but we advise our clients it can take two or three sessions to see a noticeable difference in the skins tone and skin concern.

Your skin is always subject to change from sun exposure and environmental factors and therefore we recommend top up sessions to keep the skin looking fresh. This maybe required once or twice a year.

After care will be given after each treatment.

Minimal to none.

No tan should be worn for the treatment real tan -4 weeks out of the sun or fake tan 2 weeks prior your treatment.

Side effects from IPL Rejuvenation are minimal. Some swelling can occur and is normal and can last from 1-3 days. Your therapist will discuss any side effects with you in the consultation.

Some patients may have redness for up to 12 hours after the treatment but usually subsides in less time. For pigmentation you will notice the pigment getting darker and can last on the skin up to 10 days.

IPL Rejuvenation starts at €150 per session. Courses are normally needed for skin conditions and will be discussed at your skin care consultation.
